The Film Home and Away got its international premiere at the distinguished Thessaloniki International Documentary –festival!  

The documentary Home and Away by Arto Halonen is selected to the Thessaloniki International Documentary -festival.   

Home and Away is a story about relationships between fathers and sons and rooting in Finnishness. Shawn Huff and Erwin Latimer Jr. are the children of Leon Huff and Ervin Latimer Sr., who came to Finland along with African-American basketball players in the 1970s. They have grown into Finnish social and political influencers from their fathers basis of relentlessness, ambitiousness and racism which have passed over generations onto the sons’ shoulders. The sons channel their fathers' experiences into action and both generations are fighting for a more equal world on their way.  

The film is directed and scripted by Arto Halonen and its head cinematographer is Hannu-Pekka Vitikainen. The sound designer is Janne Jankeri, composer is Kalle Koivisto and editors are Katja Pällijeff and Saara Välimäki. The film is produced by Arto Halonen and Art Films production. In Finland the film is distributed by Pirkanmaan Elokuvakeskus.  

Thessaloniki International Documentary –festival is one of the most significant documentary festivals. The festival awards a distinguished filmmaker with a lifetime achievement award annually. Arto Halonen has got that award in 2008. The festival described Arto Halonen as one of the most important documentary filmmakers and noted that his work is significantly contributing the international development of documentary film.
